DUNEDIN, Juiy 21. "County Councils are very generous with other people's money," said Mr. J. E. D. Roberts, chairman of the Otago Meat and Wool Section of Federated Farmers today. ' ' Substantial sums . have been paid out to all manner of charities. The money they collect is not for that purpose. ' ' . He moved that the attention of branches he drawn to'the fact that some County Councils continue to use ratepayers' money for putposes I other than that for which it was collected. ' ' Frequently they make substantial donations to appeals which We consider they are. uot entitled to make. This is a matter outside their jurisdiction, ' ' Mr. Roberts •- said: He , suggested that branches should discuss the matter and take action accordingly.
