U.S. WILL NOT BE COERCED

Received Thursday, 11.0 a.m. WASHINGTON, July 21. The United States will do everything pbssible in the Berlin crisis "to reach an acceptable solution, and to avoid the tragedy of war for the world," the Secretary of State, Mr. George Marsh'all, said today. "Our position, I think, is well understood. We will not be coerced or intimidated in any way in our procedures under the rights and responsibilities that we have in Berlin and generally in Germany. At the same time we will proceed to invoke every possible resource of negotiation and diplbmatic procedure, but I repeat again that we are not going to be coerced."
