WELLINGTON, July 20. A reeommehdafioit' that three petitions asking that the Waipoua State forest b.e declared a national park, be referred to tlie Government for i'avourabie c.onsideration, was returned by the Lands Committee of the House of ReprcsentatLves in a repout to th'e House today. .The petitions were presented to the House last year- and during the recoss members nf the committee visitcd the forest. TKe first petition, which . was from G. Archey and 5143 others, ' of Auckland, asked for the deelaration of the Waipoua State forest as a. national park under a board of trust, with a view to the preservation of the forest in a state of nature for all time, and that all milling and other State forest activitics cease at ouce The second petition, signed by M. H. Rice and s.ix others, of Auckland, asked foU the reservation ■ of 90(50 ac-res of Waipoua State forest and other adjacent areas in a state of nature for all time and for a modilicatioii of ' the State Forest Service policy. The third petition, that of L. Parore and three others, of Dargaville, sought a repeal -of the -Fovests Ainendment Act, 1939, and asked that the Waipoua -forest be ereated a national park. At ,the suggestion of the Prime Minister, discusison of the petitions and of the committee -s reconnnendatidn, was deferred' until Thursday, the Oominissioner .of Forests, Mr. Skinner,vbeing ab'sent today owing to bad weather having delayed his return from the north. '
