Breaches Of Cease Fire In Palestine
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, July 20. Fighting continned in Palestine from north to south early today, with eac.h side aeeusirig the other of violating the Kecurity Oouncil's two-day old sccond truce. Reuter's Ilaifa correspondent qnoted an Israeli spokesman as saying that the Syrians, in the "most serious breach of all," were still attacking in the north-east. The spokesman added: "The Jewlsh Army command is determined not to cease fighting until the Syrians have been taught their lesson. ' ' A Syrian communique issued at Damascus,. counter-charged that the Jews were the truce breakers, chiefly in an attack on' Tal el Azia in which they were repulse'd. An Arab Legion spokesman said the Jews also broke the truce in Jerusalem witli a 90-minute attack on the Shearim quarter along the Arab-held northern side. CTount Bernadotte said in Rhodes that he would contact the Arabs and the Jews in "a couple of days," to start new peaee negotiations. He added: "The great dift'erence about this trriee is that there is no time limit to t. Therefore, we are in no speeial iurry. "
