The first challenge for the Shielc was ' received in, sC letter frdm paririeWirke, wliich asked for'a game or j'uly 24, ' ' . - • He did not think it would be wise for the union to accept any chalienges for the shield yet, as' the local competition games were reaching such an interesting stage It would be a pity to upset them said Mr. C. Wilkinson. He was supported in this by Mr. p. Olfver Agreeing also, Mr. D. Cole said thai the union should first study it: club football before accepting challenges. ^ - . The secretary, Mr. J. E. Fullarton, said that he had notified the Dannevirke Union that July 24 wa: not available, and that the firs' free date would be Sejptember 11 He had had no reply fforii the clut as yet.
