Art Union Profits Help Organisations
. WELLINGTON, July 19. The namcs of various charitable and philanthropic institutions to receivo niid-winter grants from the surplus profits of the £5000 alluvial gold art unlons, were announccd toniglit by tlio Miriister of Internal AfTairs, Mr. Parry. A total of £13,755 was alloeated in grants ranging from £25 to £1000. The institutions receiving the largcst grants were:- — New Zealand Crippled Children Society and the Commandery in New Zealand of tlio Order of St. John for its various branclies, £1000 each; Auckland Orphanages5 United Council Incorporated,'°£500; Homes of Compassion, Island Bay and Silverstream, Smith Family, Wellington, Superior Council of St. Vincent de Paul, £300 each; 'New Zealand li.S.A. for relief of Imperialx ex-scrvicemen and their dcpendants, £275; Leper Nursing Sisters' Best Hoiho, National Committec of the Apostleship of the Sea, St. Joscph's Ilome, Auckland, Otaki Family Health Camp and Children 's Best Homc, Dunedin, £250 each. The Minister said these , grants were apart from amounts paid regulariy on the drawing of each art union to Alayoral distress funds with Dominion applicatton.
