Members expressed regret that the notice of the sifcting was so short. The revised scale does not propose any alteration to the existing charge of 2s for the first mile. It provides that the charge for each additional mile be 9d, whereas at present 9d is alloy/ed for each mile in excess of one up to four and ls per mile thereafter. A charge of 5s for the first mile is allowed between midnight and 7 a.m., but it is proposed to alter this to 1 a.mand 6 a.m. The cab will be deemed to be hired from t.he polnt and time at which the liirer actually enters it. Waiting time will be charged for at the rate of 6d for each five minutes or part of five minutes. * ,, For' funerals and weddings the cab may be hired on contract at a rate of 15s per hour, there being a minimum charge of £1. As an alternative to the orolnary mileage rates, the licensee will have the right to hire his cab on contract at an hourly rate of 15s, with a minimum of 15s. Whereas the charge at present for taking a fare 35 miles is*£3 10s should the new scale be adopted it will be £2 13s. A special condition is that the approved rates cover the carfiage of up to five passengers. - At present the charges cover the first two passengers, and 6d is charged for every additional passenger.
