Nine Killed When Plane Catches Fire
Received Friday, 12.40 p.m. NEW YORK, July 16. Nine.. members ' of the ' orew were killed today when a SuperFortress caught fire and piunged to earth near Salina, Kansas, as it was returning frpm a simulated bombing mission. Three of the crew'baiied out and landed qnhurt. An eye-witness said the plqne" was sweeping down for a, landipg \vhen suddenly flames and smpke belched from the engines, it ripped into the ground and exploded. •
