! •. " * . ' The annual meeting of the Shannon School Parent-Teachers' Association was held recentiy, when- the presiaent, Mr. R. r. Lind, presided over sixty members. ' f . Guest speakers had been Mrs. Hunt (welfare officer from Palmerston North) , Sisoer MacDonald, Mr. F. O. Burtt, Messrs. Sutherland and Silverwood (Weiiington Automobile 'Association), Mr. N. A. Byrne (principal of Horowhenua College), Mr. G. Bail and Mr. R. J. Law. Films were shown by Mr. Silverwood and Mr. F. N. Gibbons. . . Mr. Lind extended his thanks to the secretary, Mr. J. McNeile, the treasurer, Mr. L. Sayer, and'to the committee, and asked meihbers to endeavour to bring other parents to the meetings. . The election of officers resulted as follows: — President: Mr. R. R. Lind; secretary:. Mr. J. McNeile; treasurer: Mr. L. Sayer; committee: President, secretary and'headmaster, Mesdames L. Wilson, J. B. Ward and McLeaii, and Messrs. R. Quinlan, N. Bryson and Miers. The meeting was addressed by Miss M. Stevens, education nurse for dental health, after which Mr. B. Register, of the Health Department, showed a number of interesting and instructive films.
