Ihakara Institute's July Meeting
There was a fair attendance of members at the July meeting of the Ihakara Women's Institute, which was held last week. The president, Mrs. Butt exten'ded a special weicome to Mrs. R. J. Rolston, who has been absent for some time owing to illness. An invitation from Poroutawhao Institute to the celebration of the branch's birthday was received. Members were asked to each bring a tin of fat for-inclusion in Christmas parcels for the overseas link. Mesdames Butt and Doyle were elected as -delegates to a meeting to discuss the Christmas party at the Levin Farm. Mrs. Doyle demonstrated the making of silver paper pictures and decorated trays, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Collett, Armstrong, Haslock and Wilmshurst. a The month's eompetitions were won as follows:— Sugar-bag apron: Mrs. Butt 1, Mesdames Wilmshurst and Haslock 2 (equal) , Mrs. Hudsoh 3. Shrub: Mrs. Doyle 1 ,Mrs. Collett 2, Mrs. Haslock 3. Vegetable: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs. Armstrong 2, Mrs. R. McLean 3. Flower: Mrs Brooks 1, Mrs. Bowker 2, Mesdames Hudson and Doyle 3 (equal). Mrs. Gardiner won the social competition.
