Indoor Basketball Makes Steady Progress
The indoor basketball clubs in the Horowhenua district are making good progress this season, although some teams could do with more practice in some of the finer points of the game. A great deal depends on quick, accurate passing, and it is here that many teams break down. The Raukawa A-Tui B game last week was interesting, although the passing was slow. C. Hunter played a good game for Tui B, while K. Green and J. Adrian are improving with every game. All the Raukawa team played well, with D. Williams and J. and B. Hakaraia prominent. » Although Combined's score was high when they played against ;Aces B, had their opponents' i defence guarded while Combined Swere shooting, it might have been |a great deal smaller. M. and B. ;Batten for Combined made the most of every opportunity to score 27 points between them. M. Batten is an experienced player and will be an asset to Horowhenua, both as a referee and a player. The ' Tui A-Raukawa B game resulted in rather an easy win for Tui A, but the Raukawa players can be commended on the way they stuqk to their task. A great improvement was noticed in the defensive play of Raukawa, B. Hakaraia playing an excellent game. Otaki, fielding the Horowhenua representative .team, were too strong for Kimberley B and scored 28 points. This was too much of a handicap to expect inexperienced players to overcom'e. Kimberley a scored a well-earned win over Coilege, T. Thompson, S. Sloggett and R. Peters being the ^winning scorers. There has been a big improvement in this team. Coilege, who were playing their first club game, did not get the idea of scoring, but with a few more matches they will be a team to be reckoned with. P. McClune showed great promise in his first game. K.BH. were an improved team, showing this in their draw w-ith Tuis. J. Perigo' and C. Huiiiphrey scored -for K.B.H., and K. Graham and P. and R. Ellison for Tuis. The top scorers for the evening were C. Batten (Combined). 17, M. Dome (Tui A) 12 and M. Batten (Combined) 10.
