Masefield Re-elected N.R.A. President
WELLINGTON, July 1.4. A full meeting of the Dominion executive of the National Rifle Association of New Zealand re-elected Major W. N. Masefield, of Marlborough, ehairman. General. satisf aetion was expressed with the results of the last Championship meeting. The ehairman expressed the thanks of the exrecutive for the help given to the association by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, the Army Department and Colonel Brooke, the recently appointed Director of Rifle Clubs. • Arrangements were made for a eonsiderably more attraetive programme for 1949, the entry feesln the B and C grades having been reduced with some substantial improvement in the prize list. Two trophies previously won outright by his brother were presented for competition by Mr. J. Dobson, of Lower Hutt, an Indian silver^ tfay by Lieut.-Colonel Bapty, of Sydney, and a silver N.R.A. medaf by Major Eustace, of Tauranga, for competition among cadets. The grading ranges for the naiional meeting are now changed to 300 and 600 yards, a total seofe of 89 quf of 100 for ten shots at these two ranges qualifying as A grade, 85 to 88 B grade, and 84 or lower C grade. The programme for 1949 will be„based olx 350 entries but the prize list will be stepped up should entries exceed this number. Defiuite steps have been takeaa tpwards incorporation of N.R.A. and also fcir a'public risk insurance cover under a blanket poliey, to protect all associations, clubs and ranges.
