P.W.D. Wants Horowhenua Boundary Amended

Suggesting that the boundary between the Horowhenua and Manawatu Counties should be amended to conform to the new course of the Manawatu River through the Whirokino Cut, a letter was received at yesterday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Council from Mr. L. P.. Jamieson, resi-j dent engineer of the Public Works' Department, Palmerston North. The boundary alteration could be made by proclamation with a reso-j lution passed by each of the counties concerned, continued the letter. "I should like your council to consider this proposal, as there are a number of trees planted on the island between tfie cut and the old course nf the river, which have to be maintained by this department." The chairman, Mr, A. M. Colquhoun : It is hard to understand why the trees would grow better in the, Manawatu County than 'J in the Horowhenua County. I think this i matter needs further investigation. I It was decided to refer the question to the members for .the riding, Crs. D. K. Guy and E. R. Winkler, and the executive officers for investigation.
