A man 'who distinguished himself both as a soldier and' as a horticulturist, Mr. J. P. Hudson, was f'arewelled at a luncheon given in his honour by the Royal New- Zealand Institute - oiHorticulture in Wellington. Mr. Hudson served on the beae.hes of Dunldik and, with a New Zealander* frofu Nelson, dismantled the hrst, unexploded flying bomb to f all on Britain. He also dismantled several other new types oi bombs. wlien they fell. For these acts he was awarded the M.B.E. and Georgt Medal and bar. Mr. Hudson graduated B.Sc\ from Nottingliam University and holds the British National Diploma-of Horticulture. He "joined the Department of . Agriculture as a liorticulturalist three years ago and is now leaving to take up a position as Professor of Horticulture, Nottingham Uhiversity.'
