Huge Sum Involved In Court Charges

WELLINGTON, July 14. Thirteen charges involving property worth £21,000 were preferredj against Freeman Ronald Raine,1 aged 26, motor mechanic, before Mr. J. S. Hanna, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Senior-Detective G. E. Callaghan, who prosecuted for the pollce, said that five of the charges related to the theft of motor cars. In the 19 alleged. offences covered by these charges, evidence would be brought by the police in an effort to show the system. Eight further charges alleged that Raine obtained cars worth £12,029 by ialse pretences. There are over 50 witnesses to be heard.
