Prices Show Rise At Levin Stock Sale
There was a large yarding of fat sheep and cattle at the Levin sale yesterday when values showed a slight rise on last week's yardings, this being mainly due to the better quality of the fat stock offexed. Feature of the sale were three outstanding wethers which sold for 59s lOd, the highest prlce for these sorts for some time. Quite a few store sheep were penned, good quality five-year-old ewes showing well in lamb to S.D. rams making 36s. Two-tooth wethers in fair condition off the hilis made 37s ld. The pig yarding was very small and values for heav.y- porkers maintalned last week's high "level.- A few stores were offered and 'changed hands at satisfactory values. ' The fat cattle ^rdirig- was- above par, good quality oxen making from £18 17s 6d to . £22 17s 6d. Another extra prime quality truck of heifers sold from £15 7s 6d to £16 7s 6d, while others made from £14 2s 6d to £17 7s 6d. No vealers were offered, but a truck of good- quality runners averaged £10 15s. Ex-dairy cows were in larger numbers than usual and as the quality was outstanding, higher prices were realised. S.D. r., 33s 3d to 36s; 2-tooth wethers off hills, fair condition, 37s ld; b.f. lambs, up to 27s 5d. Pigs: Heavy porkers, £5 16s to £6; m&dium do., £2 15s to, £5 7s; light do., £3 10s to £4 9s; light and ; unfinished* do., down to £2 15s; prime choppers; £5 5s to £7 10s; medium stores, £2" 17s; light do., 34s to 35s 3d; sow and litter, £10.
