MYSTERY PLANE FORCED DOWN
Received Tuesday, 10.50 a.m. NEW- YORK, July 12. . A Flying Forjtress which left Westchester County Airport, earry-l ing an estimated 3500 gallons of fuel and at least ten persons, apparenttty for Palestine, limped into Dartmouth Airport at Halifax, Nova Scocia, five -hours after its take.-off, with epgine trouble. The lack of a United States elearance certificate made it doubtful whether tihe Canadian authorities wcuid allow the plane to leave. The plane's cargo w'as marked with Jewish lettering. The Herald-Tribune says it is believed the plane is being flown Haganah forces in _ Israel. Neither the pilqt nor anyone els.e coiicerned with the bomber would ihe any informafion concerning t. The bomber had a crudely j oainted registratipn number on its ::ail but no other markings.
