GREYMOUTH, July 9. The Pyramid Coal C mipany has announced tliat the Government has purc.hased its coal lease and other assets on the Reefton field and will take over control at the end of August. The price is not stated. The mine is situated in the same area as the Burke's Creek Mine which was also purchased by the titate some time ago. The Pyramid. Mine is one of the largest privatply owned mines in the Reefton district. The output' reeently has been in the vieinity oflOOOtons u month. Twenty-one men are at" prcsent omployod but the normal coniplement is larger. It is understpod that the encrpachment of water " in .workings kas cauSed the- company some. concerni stod remedial measures would have been costly for a compartively small company. There is believed to be a big reserve of coal on the Pyramid property.
