Bombed London Church To Be Rebuilt
Reeeived Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, July 9. All Hallows by the Tower, the 1300-year-old Guild.Ghurch bf Toe Ha vvhich has been an empty shell since it- was bombed during the war is to be rebuilt. The work wiil begin imrnediately after the Queen l'ays the foundation stone dn July 19. • The. restoration is being aided by friends at Home and overseas. Rimu for the panelling in the porch room and chapel has been sent by Mr. Barle Vaile, from Auckland, and joiners are now preparing it. Timber is coming from Canada and redwood chunks from Oregon, Sixteen tons of Steel for reinforcing bars for the concrete wafls have been sent by a matt in BostOn and another 16 tons : is- coming from- Texas. Australia has sent a sanctnaiw ehair made and don;ated by members of Maryboromgh Toe II, Queensland. Routh Africa, Tas•mania and Baluchistain are sending pews with eo-at of arms panels. Sliips' badges . for Ihe sailovs' aisle have been caryed by" men serving in fhe ' -'Royal 1 naval ships Queen Elizabeth, Howe, Cossaclc, Comet, Conquest, Constanc-e, and Warspite and the French Navy wiil be represented by the work of the crew of the Richelieu. All Hallows wiil be the first city church to be restored since the bombing of London.
