Many may find thatl their scores will not be equal to j qualification in championship play.j Numerous'new prayers aie competing this season and positions in the senior and jumor championslnps will no doubt be fiiled by some of them. Karakamea Cup Entries for the above cup competition have now been flnahsed and the draw in the opening round will be pubiished next week. Prior to commencing play, all competrtors who are not conversant with the rules govqrning this p-opu-lar trophy are asked to familianse themseives with them, thereby avoiding any misunderstanding that may arise. The first round i connnences on July 17. j Geheral Notes I When you are not hitting them j as well as formerly, try this simple j little hint: Keep a flrm grip withj the left hand all through the swing • and a iight grip with the right hand. You will then probably find you have been using too much right hand. It is the left hand, j wrist and arai in full team world with the left side that leads or ' starts the backswing. Taking the ! club head back with the right is a j common fault, and the cause of many faulty shots. The tee shot: Try a very narrow stance for your tee shots. This will j stop you from swaying, you will pivot correctly, follow through fori that extra punch needed in your | shots and generally get more con- ; trol over all your shots. For sliots j nearer the green, a narrow stance is ' definitely heipful, for a wide stance , gives too much body sway, particu- j larly for those very heipful chip ; shots, which, when played cor- j rectly, are match winners.
