WELLINGTON, July 7. • In an attempt "to settle the Mountpark clispifte, members of Cabinet *will meet the full 11ational council- of the New Zealand Watei'Sid.e Workers' Union to.morrow morning, together with the national executive of the New Zealand Federation of Labour and representatives of the New Zealand Transport . Workers' Federation and allied unions. lf a settlement cannot be reaehed by this means, the executive. of the Federation of Labour will call a speeial full conference of delegates as it did during the last major wharf dispute in 1947. When the national council of the union, together with visiting representatives from other unionsv resumed its meeting this morning, the national ■ executive of the federation was absent. Later in the morning the federation 's executive returned to the conference with a proposal that a conference" with members of Cabinet should be -held and that, failing a settlement, a speeial meeting of delegates' to the federation- would be ealled. The proposal to meet Cabinet was endorsed by the meeting and an adjournment -. taken. Tomorrow's discussions are timed to start at 9.30 a.m. Mr. T. Hill, secretary of the Waterside Workers' .Union, said tonight that the national council of the union, after hearing reports today from Mr. J. Flood and Mr. R. 'J. O'Donnell, union nominees on the Commission, who recently resigned, and from tjie vice-president of the union, Mr. A. Drennan, unanimopsly endorsed the actions of its national executive and representatives and expressed eomplete confidence in in tliem.
