Received Wednesday, 7 p.m, ' SYDNEY, July 7. . , A housewjfe Was beaten into semi.eonscibusness, brutally kicked about the body and robbed of £5 by a man who gained entry into a Kingscross flat on the pretext that he was a power inspector. The -woman, aged 54, was alone m a' third floor flat when the door bel! rang, . She asked who was there and "heard a man say somcthing about an inspector. >' When she opened the doof she was confronted by a masked man who punched her in the face as she sereamed. The man .then placed his hand in his po'cket as if he had a -pistol and demanded her diamonds. He beat her about the head and then kicked her repeatedly when she fell. Seizing £5 from a purse on the table, he then rau from the flat. The housewife, who managed to tear off his mask in the struggle, says she would know the man anywhere.
