Famous Paintings Offered For Sale
BRISBANE, July 6. Famous paintings claimed to be worth £250,000 are being offered for sale by a 25-year-old steward, Mr. "W. Bizat, of th'e fi'eighter Sulfolk, now in Brisbane loading meat for Britain. He said he coulrl not disclose the owner's name, but that a bank had commissioned him and the ship's refrigeratior. engineer, Mr. G. Ross, to sell the paintings in Aus,tralia. Mr. Bizat approached the curator of the Queensland National Art Gallery, Mr. J. A. "VVatts, who said that paintings at such a priee would be beyond Queensland 's resourees: Mr. Bizat told him that the colleetion included "Madonna and Saints," by Luca Giordano, value/1 at £100,000, and "Portrait cff Jeffrey Hudson," by Velasquez, worth £75,000.
