PUBLIC NOTICES | LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL NOTIGE OF INTENTION TO MAKE RAT'ES PUBLIC NOTIGE is hereby , given that the Levin Bbrough Council will, at a meeting of the 'Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Bath Street, Levin, at 7.30 p.m., on Monday, July 19th, 1948, make and levy the following rates for the year ending March 31st, 1949: — 1. A General Rate of. nine and one-tenth pence (9.1d) in.the £ on the Unimproved Value of all rateable property. in the Borough of Levin. 2. A Hospital Rate (under the provisions of Section 52 of ' "The Hospitals and Charitable ■ Institutions. Act, 1926") of two and five-tenths pence (2.5d) in the £-on the Unimproved Value of all rateable property in the BorOugh of Levin. ' 3. A Water Rate (Ordinary Supply), under the provisions of Section 84 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," of one and f'our-tenths pence (1.4d) in the £ on the Unimproved Value of. all rateable property in the Borough of Levin, provided that, if such rate would produce less than ten shillings (10/-) in respect of any such land or dwelling-house, a charge of ten shillings will be made. One half of the above water rates on all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is hot, supplied, situate within one Lundred yards of any part of the waterworks, and on all buildings other than dwelling-houses. 4. A Uniurm Annual Sanitation Charge, under tlie provisions of Section 80 (2) of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," of two 1 pounds ten shillings (£2/10/-) per pan upon all such properties as have a building thereon to which the Council is prepared to extend the service. 5. A Mahawatu Catchment Board Adrmnistrative Rate (under the provisions of Sections 84 and 9b oi "The Soii Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941") of forty-six hundredths of a penny (0.4qd) in the £ ,011 the S Unimproved Value of all rateaoie property in vthe Borough ' of Levin. From fhose farmers who have not appealed 011 any previous occasion, 01- for th^se properties for which no previous appeal has been lodged by eitner the existing or by a former occupier. 2. P'rom those farmers who can produce documentary evidence to the effect that they hS,ve brought in'out of virgin country during the 1947/48 rationing period' areas which have been sown down to new grass. Appeals from returned servicemen from World War II, and from others who acquire after the 20th July, 1948, property for which there is no top-dressing fertiliser 'allocation, can be considered at any time during the rationing year. ALL APPEALS MUST BE IN WRITING addressed by the farmer to the Chairman, District Fertiliser Committee, care of Department of Agriculture for the district in
which the property (for which the appeal is lodged) is situated. All applicants must_state the name of the vendor from whom it is desired to obtain supplies of fertiliser in the evgnt of the appeal being successful. Documentary evidence in support of appeals mentioned in paragraph 2 above should consist of a copy of the invoice for the grass seed, and also signed statements from the owners or managers of two neighbouring properties to the effect that the grass seed was sown on virgin country.
