National Committee Takes Over Dispute
GREYMOUTH, July 1. The dispute concerning deductions from the pay of the miners at the Strongman Btate mine which idled that mine and the Liverpool Btate -mine since Mondav, Jnne 21, . this evenlng was handed over to the national council of the United Mine Workers of N e\v Zealand, by thet Grey Miners central committee which has been acting for the Runanga Union for some days. This evening almost all members of the national council, which is the equivalent of the national executive of the New Zealand Union, met at Grey mouth and heard representations frorit officials of the Runanga Union ani Grey central committee. Also present were members of the Buller miners central committee. The deliberations -Jasted two hours and it was later announcPd that recommendations would be made by the national council to a specially eonvened mass meeting of the Runanga Union on Saturday. No indic'atioh of the reeommehcfations likely to be made, was givfen this evening, but! hopes are hekl that after the union 's meeting, the dispute may be settled.
