WELLINGTON, July 1. Asked if anything was being done in New- Zealand, as in U.8.A., Britain and elsewhere, to check unpatriotie. aetivities on the part of public servants, Alr. G. T. Bolt, of the Public Bervice Commissiou, said: "We are eareflil to see that there is 110 doubt as to the loyalty of an ofticer before making an appoiniment to any position involving the welfare of the Btate from the loyalty angle. Everv servant, on appointment to the public service, takes" ail oath of secrecy and is not permitted, without the authority of liis Minister, to disclose anything dealt with in the course of business. "We have to date, ' ' said Mr. Bolt, "madh nrfspecial inquiries into the politics or other aetivities of public servants. ' '
