Thieves Cut Open Safe For Big Haul
Received Wednesdav, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, .Time 30. Thieves wlvo took £0300 from a eitv safe early this morning, first cut through a steel strongroom door 2$ inches thick. Making a hole in the door two feet wide with an oxy-acety-lene torch, they then burned through the hack of the safe and abstraeted the weekly payroll for 800 employees. The, money was all in 'small denominations and was in envelopes awaiting issue today. The robbery bccurred in .the ITarbour Trust building, Market Street., in tlie lieart of the eity, but not a sound was heard by the watehmen. Two acetylene cylinders were left behind."
