Finding The New Champion
With the retirement of Joe Louis following his K.O. of Jersey Joe Walcott, it was announced that the new holder of the world heavyweight boxing title would be decided by a series of elimination bouts. The first of these bouts will take place next September, when Walcott will meet Gus Lesnevich. The wltmer of this bout will then have to fight an opponent to be- selected. /
