SPRAYING BY HELICOPTER.

Britain' s first "spraycopter" — a Westland-Sikorskv helicopter fitteu with spocial insecticide sprayiug equipment is now in operation in CambriUgeshire after successful tests. The spraycopter is fitted with a boom earrying 48 spraving nozzles stretching 17 feei on each side of Ihe machine and giving a spraving swathe'of 60 to 100 feet. Allowing for filling time, the spraycopter can spray 60 acres of field crops such as potatoes in an liour or 30 to 40 acres of tall seed crops in the same time. The cost of spraving by lieJicopter is approximately tlie same as by ordinary methods of ground spraying.
