Belt Series Finalised By Hautere Rifle Club
On Saturday last the Hautere Defence Rifle Club finalised its 1948 Belt Series with shoots at 800 and 900 yards. The conditions were far from pleasant with a keen southeasterly wind coming over the hill and playing havoc with elevation, many seores being affected. On the completion of the shooting and the tbtalling of scores, It was found that three marksmen, H. Monk, L. E. Monk and B. F. Monk, were equal for first. In the shoot-off B. F. Monk won the series. The Manz Memorial Trophy resulted in a tie between C. Strom and L. E. Monk and the shoot-off saw Monk secure 24 points to Strom's 22. In the following detailed scores, the figures represent the score at 800 yards, handicap, score at 900 yards, handicap and total, respectively: — R. Stocking 43 — 3 — 47—3 — 93, C. Strom 43—3—42—3—91, B. F. Monk 45 — 0 — 42 — 0 — 87, N. S. MonK 42—2—40—3—87, R. L. Monk 44—1 i_39 — i — 85. The remainder, who received no handicap, were: F. Freeman 47 — 37 — 84, F. H. Monk 44 —38—82, L. E. Monk 48—34^82, C. Cobb 48—32—80. A further shoot-off for the Service Cup was won by H. A. Lumsden. The following are the highest .scores in the aggregates: — Championship Belt competition: B. F. Monk 727, L. E. Monk 727, F. H. Monk 727, C. Cobb 726, F. Freeman 720. Handicap Cup competition: L. E. Monk 738, C. Strom 737, B. F. Monk 780, R. L. Monk 728, F. H. Monk 727, C. Cobb 726. Manz Memorial competition: L. E. Monk 368, C. Strom 368, N. S. Monk 367, F. Freeman 364, F. H. Monk 360, B. F. Monk 360. Cobb Cup competition: L. E. Monk 189, C. Strom 187, R. Stocking 187, N. S. Monk 184, F. Freeman 184, B. F. Monk 182, F. H. Monk 181.
