Radio Telephone For Moving Vehicles
AUCKLAND, June 20. Auckland is on the threahold of a new plu^se in communication facilities. Months of research and experiment in one of the most difficult of reehption areas, have brought the Post and Telegraph Depstrtment to the stage where it can provide public utility organisations with radio-telephone service. By this means the headquarters of an organisation will be able to keep in direet touch with its motor vehicles travelling about the metropolitan area. The department is now ready for the firsl subscribers and a city commercial (irin has built, sets suitable for installing on vehicles. So far no applications have been received for the sei'vice but several publie bodies have shown keen interest in it. The St. Jolin Ambulande Association tire brigades and pOwer boajds are among the possible users and taxi proprietors and carrying companies may make use of the seheitie when it can be extended to them.
