AUCKLAND, June 20. The eampaign to have officers, execut'ive menibers, trustees and. urg'anisers olr the Auckland Drivers' Union, removed i'rom.office, is being eonducted by a seetion of Ihe union. it has served a reqiiisitioii on the executive-'for a speeial meeting to be lield in the l'own Hali and has also sent a eireular to members of the union explaiiiing the reasons for . its action. "JLtis comnion "knowledge that a movement is afoot to purge our union of disruptive commiuiist elements which are responsible for bringing it into, publie disrepute, " says the eireular wliioh also states.tliat the secretary has been and still is visiting' various firms and addressing members of Ihe union. II also indieates that he has diseussed the eampaign during his visits. Stating that the union is oue of a fevv that beeomes involved in litigation, the eireular says a stop m ust be put lo union funds being' paid in legal costs. It adds that members desire to l)e given the riglit to elect their own officers in a constitutional inanner and to provide for proper majority eontrol of the organisa(ion. "When this is aehieved ihere should be an ineetitive to members to attend union meetings and speak with the assurance of the sympathetie hearing which we have desired for so long. " Tlie I'ollowing resolutions which wei-e ineluded in Ihe requisition, are (iiioted in the eireular: — "That all officers, executive members, trustees and organisers be removed from office or position on Ihe grounds that they are not perl'oi'iuing theii* duties in a satisfaetory inanner and in aceordance with democratic prineiples, in that they have allowed couimnnisfj- infiuenee 1o dietate the policy of the union." "That all delegates of afSliated organisations he removed as delegates." "That in the meantime the union appoint seven trustees to adminiate.v affajr«, and, - that they eonducl a postal ballot for the eleetion of officers and othcrs mentioned in the two other resolutions." The eireular, which calls on members to consider the facts earet'ully. eoncludes \\;ith an assuraiiee that the move is being rnade by the drivers ^ind that 110 other individuals or' organisations are connected with the eampaign.
