Want Funeral Costs Paid From Social Security

WELLINGTON, June 18. The payment of benefits from the Social Seeurity Fund to cover the cost of funerals is to be proposed to the Government by the Federaiion of Labour. The federation' will seek action from the Gox'ernment to give effect to the resolution in these terms adopted by the 1947 annual eonference, and now reaffirmed. The federation will ask also that dental treatment be brought Avholly under the Social Seeurity Act. The national executive of the federation has endorsed, and will present to the Government, pronosals for an increase in personal exemption for income tax purposes to a sum not less than the standard minimum wa?e as pronounced by the Coui't of Arbitration for unskilled male adult workers.
