Russian Colonel Was Not III Treated

Reeeived Friday, 10 a.m. LONDON, June 17. The Secretary for the Home Department, Mr. J. Chuter E'de, replying in the House of Commons to a question on the Russian, Colonel Tassoyev, who the Russians alleged had been ill treated by British intelligence officers in an attempt to obtain information, said Tassoyev, when he came voluntarily to London, was liable to detention as an alien who had not been given leave to land. Mr. Chuter Ede said he had left the flat where he was temporarily accommodated, got into difficulties and had been ejected from a bus for not paying his fare. Tassoyev was lodged in Hammersmith police station in suitable accommodation. "I am satisfied that he was well treated and not subjected to any interrogation. Due consideration was shown him."
