Card Eveninge Members of the newly-formed Otaki Beach Church Hall Ladies' Guild held a successful card evening on Monday. Mrs. W. A. Hotchen, of Ngaio Street, lent her home for ' the evening. Prize-winners were as followsi^L-Bridge: Miss B. Swabey; 500: Mrs. W. T. Dodds and Mr. A. Petersf. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Dodds and Mrs. J.- Key have also lent their homes - for similar evenings, the proceeds being in aid of the Beach Chpreh^Hall buiidirig fund. * U.N.VAppeal For Children To further the U.N. appeal for children, a social and dance, organised by the Raukawa War Memorial Committee, is to be held in Otaki on Friday night. The management has made arrangements for the local treasurer, Mr. A. Wiison, to be present to announce the result of the effort. Anyone who has not contributed to date are reminded of this ' opportunity. The Otaki Band will play 4n the Raukawa grounds early in the evening. Otaki's collections to date are in the vicinity of £400. Representative Meeting A- representative meeting, presided over by Mr. E. Goulden, of Wellington, supported by other Wellington executive members of the Owneio', Trainers' and Breeders' Association, was held at Otaki Railway on Wednesday night. Various matters of interest to owners, trainers and breeders were outlined, as also were the aims and - objects of the association. A generous measure of support was forthcoming from the meeting, and a sub-committee was formed to convene a further meeting at an early date, to which owners, trainers and breeders from Levin to Paekakariki are to be invited to attend.
