Britain Extending Purge Of Communists

Eeceived Wednesday, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, June 16. Reuter reports that the British Civil Service Clerical Association asserted that the Air Minister (Mr. Arthur Henderson) informed the staff that all posts at the Air Ministry headquarters would "be hrought within the scope of the Government's purge of Communists and Fascists. The Association helieves Mr. Henderson is considering extending the purge to all Air Ministry establishments throughout the country and that the Admiralty, War Office and Ministry of Supply have taken similar decisions. The Association claimed that this represented a material extension of the scope of the purge. It would bring in a large volume of non-secret work and would apply to all Communists in service departments.
