Water Heating Control May Be Extended
At its next meeting. the Horowhenua Electric Power Board will discuss the advisability or not of an extension of its control over water heaters in order to cover countryj areas in ad'dition to the existing control in town areas. A detalled r.eport covering the proposed project was submitted by the engmeer, Mr. J. F. Bryce, at yesterday's meeting, but a full discussion on the matter was postponed till next month. "We have alrea'dy expended £12,000 cn pilot wire control which, I believe, is now practically completed. This additional control of water heaters will mean an expenditure of £25,000," said the chairman, Mr. T. G. Vincent. He considered that the question woui'd have to be very fully discussed and shouid, therefore, be held over till the next meeting to give members time to study the report more carefully. 'fully. There was also the question of whether or not the money coul'd be expended for the purpose without a loan poll, or whether it could be considered as reticulation, continued Mr. Vincent. He believed that some difficulty over this matter had arisen in the South Island. He would also like to see some report-s from otner boards already operating full control in order to ascertain what saving had been effected. He thought that perhaps Mr. Bryce could obtain these figures.
