Centralising Of Royal Show Objected To

Press Association)

V- (Per

HASTINGS, June 12. Strong condemnation of the move to centrali.se the Royal Agricultural and Pastoral Show in Palmerston North and Christchurch in alternate years was ex pessed at a meeting of the Hawke's Bay' Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday. The question arose when remits to be considered at the annual conference of the Royal Society in Wellington next week came before the meeting. Two remits suggested-centralisation in Palmerston North and Christchurch, and a third merely sought centralisation. In anticipation of the centralisation question being raised, tho president (Mr. L. MacLean) ventilated the subject at a meeting of the Eastern District Council in Hastings. Mr. MacLean told yesterday 's meeting that he liad at that conference condemned the proposal lock, stock and barrel, an'l lliat the eastern council delegates had agreed with him. " If they bring this sort of thing about, it will spell the doom of the Royal Agricultural Society/' he said. "I am sure everyone in this room deplorcs the suggestion. If I go to Wellington I will use what power I have to bloek it in the best interests of the Royal Agricultural Society."
