The garne commenced at ,a torrld pace, with the forwards of both Sides fig'hting hard to gain the adyantage. Leyin forwards, hw-,e-y,er, br-Qke through and , Goodwin and Lyons nombined Wiell in. taking fche game d.eep into the visitors' fcerritory. Morgan, playing welh forward, nearly shot a goal but good work by' th.e Te * Horo f-ull-baek, ■ Cottle, :put the issue beyond doubt. Shirnack and Windley broke through the Levin forwards and piay progressed to the other end of fche field. Smlth playing well inter.cepfced, how.ever, and sent play to the half^way mark. -Te Horo forwards, breaking through, looked dangerous for Levin, but an intereepted pass sa-w Levin take the offensive into Te Horo's territory. From a ruck Leask shofc a fine goal, giving Levin a lead of one.huint. Determined play followed, with Te Horo ga-ining the ad-vantage in the r-ucks.. Windley, who was playing grand hockey, made the scores eyen after 20 minutes of p)ay. Te I Horo again made a determined effort but were broken up by the fine work of the Levin ,half-backs„ Elton, Barraud and Hunter. At the close of the second spell Levin foriwards were noticed to be improving iln combination, anct were afctackling pp the defenders' twenty-five as the whistle blew. .
On resuming play with the score fequal, Te Horo forced play into Leyin territory and it was hdt lopg before Windley took Te Horo into. the le.ad by scoring a good goai. Ras.t and rugged play fofiowetj, jn which Windley apd ' Gawl.er , were playing a fine game for Te Horp. Te Horo 4,. Levin 2. Ladies' Games * Th-r.ough lack of ex-perience the College team suffered a defeat by Raukawa A by 11 goals to nil. For College, Misses A. Todd and M. Haley played the most improved games. Misses Hakaraia played well for Raukawa. Le-vin ladies fought a draw with Raukawa B in what was probably the best ladies' match witnessed in Leyin. The visiting team's forwards were strong, but good wgrk by the Levin, back's held their oppgnents pt b,ay. Miss N. Tyree played an impressive game at half-'back and should develop into a g.ood player rwith experience, Miss H- Jenkinson also -played well, while experienced players like Mesdames Rorfcer, Henderson and Murray gave excellent exhibitions.
