Fire Burns for Nine Hours A fire which laAed nine hours gnd caused damage estimated at £1000 broke out in a building on Mr. R. Copeland Smith's fajm at Te Ngae, near Rotorua. The building and -65 tons of hay were destroyed. Nearly Ready for Business Reconstruction of Ballantyne's, the Christchurch department store destroyed by fire in Noyember, 1947, has almost been eompleted. The rebuilding of the ground floor and the construction of a low roof has been proceeding steadily, and, on the Cashel Street side, show.cases complete with models and displays have been installed. A wooden hoarding still fropts Colombo Street.
