Mrs. Foot and her infant son, of Makerua, returned home from Foxton on Saturday afternoon. ! / ■ Mr. E. A. Collins, of Ballance Street, has returned home after a holiday visit to Dunedin. ? Mrs. R. Parr, of Thompson Street, has returned home after visiting her daughter at Whakatane. Miss Chisham, who was the relieving chemist during Mr. Collins' absence, returned to Wellington on Sqnday. Moutoa Y.F.C. Dance The Moutoa Young Farmers' Club held a successful dance in the Moutoa Hall on Saturday evening. There were many dancing enthusiasts from the Shannon and Foxton districts present. Several competition dances were held and the Horowhenua Pipe Band assisted with the music. An energetic committee supplied a delightful supper. A Quiet Saturday Last Saturday was one of the quietest experienced in Shannon for some time. This was probably aue to the fact that the Manawatu Racing Club's fixture at Awapuni drew a large following from the town, and also that the senior football team played their match out of town. There was a fair gathering at the local domain, however, for the lower grade football fixtures. Flax Plantation Visited A party of Feilding young farmers recently paid a visit to the Industries and Commerce Department's flax plantation at Moutoa. The trip took the form of a field day and the young men showed keen interest in the cultivation of the .flax from the nursery stage until it was ready for milling. It is understood that the tour was arranged' -by the Feilding Young Fanners' Club, who is enlightening its members as to the activities of New Zealand's secondary -industries. • '
