Those committeemen who were able offered to donate tlie milk for the school cocoa. The headmaster, Mr.-^F. O. Burtt, presented his report for the month of May, which was as follows: — "The atten'dance for the month averaged 130 boys and 130 girls: There was one , admission and one withdraw.al during the month, and the school roll now stands at 140 boys and 138 girls. There were no staff changes, The district nurse has commenced her full medical inspection of certain classes in the school and will advise parents if she finds any reason why children should be seen by a medical officer, or if any remedial treatment should be necessary. "The school closed for vacation on May 7 and re-opened on May 24. The supply of milk ceased at the end of last term and its shortage has delayed the supply of cocoa to those children havlng lunch at school. A start has been made by the Education Board to replace the desks in the school, two rooms hav-' ing already been supplied, while others will arrive when they are rea'dy. "The arrangement for in'struction in manual training for the senior pupils has become even more unsatisfactory than it was. The changes recently made in the train timetable make it impossible for full time classes to be held. The case has been represented to the Education Board and it is hoped that the employment of a bus for the return trip from Levin will be sanctioned by the board, which is now considering the question. . "Forty film strips have been ordered and 200 books of fiction and reference selected for the library. These now await the approval of the subsidy before they become the school's property. The next meeting of the Parents' and Teachers' , tssociation will be held on Monday, June 14, at 8 p.m., when Mr. W. Gibbons will show sound films. Thanks are due to Mr. R. Vinsen for his donation of a large mat for the infant room and for a basketball."
