Fifteen men with bags packed, stood in the vestibule of a shipping company's offiees in Auckland today, in the hope of working passages to Englanu. .Tbey were some of many New Zeh landers hoping to reach England o.> these means. Four of the fifteen sueceeded in filling vaeaneies in the crow of the Royal Mail Line's ship Deseado when it sailed for Cardiff at 5 p.m. Most of the intended emigrants had been trying for some months to sign ua as niembers of ship ' crews, withoiu success. The lucky four who vvere fui ally given bertlis in the sliip's crew were Messrs. G. F. Boxall and R. jc.. Hutson both of wliom came out to Ivew Zealand as seamen on Australia Star 1-J months ago, Mr. E. G. Burke, a farm hand from Ohau in Southland, who hopes to manage a farm in JCngland, and Mr. F. Wilding, a farm hand froni Kaikoura, who has prospect of work with a breeders' association in Scoiland.
