Second Fire In Three Days
AUCKLAND, June S. The second fire in three days broke out in the Ardmore Teachers' Training College tonight and swept tlirough the d orini tory block occupied by male college students. Within lialf an hour luindreds of pounds worth of personal belongiugs, furniture aud other equipmont were destroyed. None of the men was in the block when the fire broke out. Twenty-eiglit lost practically all their belongiugs. The building in which the fire occurred was only two buildings apart from that which was destroyed by fire on Suuday night. It was about 250ft long and was made up of two bloeks, one of which contained 28 cubicles and the other 26 cubicles. The inter*®r of the former block was conipletely swept by fire but the second block escaped. At the time of the outbreak all students in the college were at a eombined lecture and the dormitory building was empty. Individual losses suffered by many o; Ihe 28 students rau into a considerable amount offmoney. M-usical instruments, valuable books and money went up in flames with elotliing. One studeut had only recently spont about £50 on clothes and others had also made additions to their wardrobes during the holidays.
