WESTPORT, .Tune 8. The TTnion Steamship Conipany's collier Kartigi whieh completed eoal loading liere. on Saturilav af'ternnon and was to have sailed at 0 a.m. Sun day for Auckland, is being held in port by the demand of the erew for the replaceuient for an injured erew attendant. Allhongh the agreement between the ship owners and Seamen's Union provides that erew orderlies shall not he replaeed at other than the ports of Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton or Dunedin, it is understood that requests I'rom the nnion executive to take the Kartigi to sea have so far not met with any response from the erew. Two men who olfered their services as mesf orderlies, were not aeeeptahle • to t]ie erew. Tn view of the shortage of eoal at Auckland, the delav in the sailing of the TCartigi is most nnfortnnate, par tienlarl.v as the vessel nlso recentlv suf£?rod a delay at Auckland on aeconnt of erew disputes. The man coneerned, Sydney Cheek, aged 10, was admitted o the Bullor TTosnital on Ratijrdav aftetnoon, suffering from severe eonenssion due to a fiill from the wharf on to the ship's deek, His eondition tfiis afternoon was 1 reported satisfactory.
