The Wanganui Centennial Steeplechase meeting was eoncluded yesterday in fine though cold -weather. The eourse was much the same as it was on Saturday. The attendance was good and the totaiisator tiirnover was £67,737 10s, eompared with £68,083 last year, Eor the two. days the total was £134,645 10s, comparfed with £127,985. ' -
Tlie Wanganui Centennial Steeplechase was won by Peter 's Choice, wiiieli woil tlie Century tlurdles on tlie iirst day. Peter 's Choice was lame when he puiled up but he won with the good inargin of over two iengths ahead of Royal Seholar wliich was a length in front of Whooray. King Scarf and -Northfield canie to grief at the iirst feuce, lioyal Pageant fell at the Iirst of the double in front of the stands, and Tortago at tlie next fence the second time round. Sun/ire led ' for a round .ahead of fe Aki, Tortago, Whooray, i'atara Lad and Whiphand. Setting otii on the last round Whooray and Te Aki were the ieaders froni Tortago, Gay Rouen and Royal Seholar. Peter 's Choice gained rapidly on the lcaders ali tlie way down the back and with hali' a mile to run had joined Whooray in the iead with imperial Crown next, lollowed by lioyal Seholar and Gay Rouen.
