Grant. of Otaki Railway, have returned home after an enjoyable '•fishing holiday. Nurse Boyd, of the Otaki Sanatorium staff, had the misfortune this week to break a bone in hei ankle. After receiving treatmenl at the Palmerston North Hospita. she was able to return home. The friends of Mrs. Broadway, oJ Rangiuru, Otaki, will regret to learr that this week she was conveyec by ambulance to the Palmerstor North Hospital suffering from £ fractured hip, caused through a fai on slippery ground. ■ Yital Statistics ' During the month of May thi registiar of births, deaths and marriages at Otaki reports that he ha. been notlfied of 16 births in thi districc. Snowdon was hit by a car. Mr. Snowdon had come out from behlnd the Otaki Borough • Council truck when an approaching car collided with him and threw hlm on to the mudguard. The jerk which occurred when the "driver applied his brakes threw Mr. Snowdon torward again on to the road very j forcibly. He was conveyed to tne ! doctor and received attention, after which he was able to return home with many abrasions but luckily no broken bones. Troublesome Water Excess water at Tasman Beach has been causing residents in the vicinity much inconvenience and Inot a little concern. At least two j places have been almost isolated. j it is reported that one of them has | had as much a's five inches of water | in it, while the water has been up to the floorboards of the other. The borough foreman and his staff are trying to alleviate the position and a pump and 500 feet of hose , are in use in an endeavour to remove the j water from the low-lying places. 'The position is particularly bad at I the corner of Moana and Toi Streets. Marching Girls' Dance A very successfui and well attended dance was heid at the Raukawa Hall on Friday last, under the aus1 pices of the Bandoliers Marching ;Team. An orchestra of four players gave generous measure, while , the girls and their supporters provided a very appetising supper. Mr. 'A. Lumley was an abie M.C. Novelty 'dances were won by Mu. land Mrs. Moss and Miss W. and I Mr. B. Tahiwi. Prizes _ at. cards were won by Miss Coote's and Mr. Wi Nicholls (firsts), and Mrs. Housiaux and Mrs. Frederickson (seconds) and by Mr. D. Moore and Mrs. Housiaux. During the evening Mr. Lumley thanked all for attendin'g and advised that, in response to requests, it was hoped to hold further dances in the near future. Early in the evening the Otaki Band rendered a short programme.
