N.Z. Appeal For Children Now £175,000
WELLINGTON, June 4. The total of the United Nations Appeal for Children reached £175,000 on Thursday night, said the Dominion appeal organiser (Mr. R. Alalcolm) today. He added that yesterday's eontributions direct to Wellington headquarters amounted to £2130. The Consul for Greece (Afr. T. E. Y. Seddon) accompanied by the "ViceConsul (A£r. S. Garland) today handed in £480 for the appeal. fund. The money, said Mr. Malcolm, was collected through the Greek organisation in Wellington by a committee set up as recently as Alay 23. Funds were still being collected throughout the country, he eontinued. A telegram from Chatham Islands reported that the amount there to date was £400. The Dunedin schoolboy (Kenneth Clydesdale) who opened the appeal in his home towii just over a month ago has completed his New Zealand tour and will return to dunedin from Wellington by air tomorrow. Kenneth has given 63 public addresses, mostly to theatre audienees, workers' meeting and on the air.
