Keen Sale For Well-known Jerseys
Buyers representative of the entire Dominion attended the comDine'd sale on Thursday of Poveril and Allandale Jerseys, conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mereantile Agency Co., Ltd., on behalf of the owners, Mr. A. Hudson and Messrs. Allan Hom and Sons respectively. . The Peveril -dispersal comprised 26 .cows, five in-calf rising two-1 year heifers, 16 risirig yearling bulls and two herd sires. Thie Allandale offering consisted of 14 riSing' twoyear in-calf heifers, 10 rising yearling bulls and eight rising twoyear in-calf grade Jersey heifers. The cattle were all well grown and Same forward in good condi-. tion despite the summer ; and autumn drought. The Peveril. stiid traces . back. to the immortal Sire K.C.B., while Allandale stock is line-bred to the tamous Owler of ♦Puketapu, C.B.B., and J;here is always a keen demand for animals from these noted strains. The young sires in particular sold very readily. The .cows and heifers realised prices which must be considered very satisfactory to the vendors. I Top price of the sale was 325 guineas paid for a five-year-old 'cow, "Peveril Goldilocks, H.C.," bought by Mr. J. L. Bennett, of Palmerston North. The be'st price arhong the bulls was 250 guineas paid.by Mr. J. G, Horn, of Ohau, for the yearling "Allandale Victory Renown." The rising two-year-old "Allandale Gay Rita," purchased by Mr. D. J.
