Personal Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Munford, of Pretoria Road, have returned home after visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. Taylor, of Wellington. Ladies at Golf Members of the Buckley women's golf team journeyed to Levin last Wednesday to play the first interclub match of the season. ITiey reported excellent playing conditions and a most enjoyable match, although they were defeated by eleven game to five. Local Maoris Active A committee of local Maoris has been doing excellent work for the past few months gathering funds ior the general improvement and repair Of the Pouti! Pah at Moutoa. Their weekly card evenings, besides being a financial success, have been a model of business-like control. The'prize winners at last Monday's function were Mrs. W. Third and Mr. R.' Hardlng. Maoris throughout the district are supporting the committee most commendably and the fund, which is placed in the bank in the meantime, is reaching an encouraging level. The proceeds of one of the recent card evenings, which amounted to £2 8s 6d, were handed over to the United Nations' Chiidren's Appeal as a mark of sympathy with the children innocently caught in the devastation of war.
